Finish 6 by Summer Update #1

It is time for my first update for Finish 6 by Summer.  You can see my intro post here.  I started the project less than a month ago and I'm feeling pretty good about some products and we will see what happens with the others.  I still have 3 months to go so lots of time to see progress.  As a reminder, I put in 7 products and hope to finish 6 of them.  Some of the product types are overlapping with Finish 5 by Cinco de Mayo (face mask, lipgloss) so I'm not focusing on them as much as I should and there might not be much progress until that project is finished.

I have finished 1 product in this project.  Kind of:)

1.  12 Benefits - I can't see through this product to mark it but I have been using it every time I blow dry my hair and it doesn't sound like there is much left.  I hope to finish this by the next update.
2.  Tarte Mask and Malin and Goetz Mask - These count as 1 product.  I haven't used them at all since the last update because I am trying to finish another mask in my other project.

3.  Smashbox gloss in limitless - I haven't used this yet but the last Smashbox gloss went pretty quick once I started using it.  I am hoping to finish the gloss in my Finish 5 by Cinco de Mayo project soon and start on this one.
4.  Tarte Energy lip crayon - I just don't reach for this at all and I need to start!
5.  Benefit Professional - This was full when I started and I am down to the mark on the left side of the tube.  I hope to have this finished by the next update.
6.  Jouer cream blush - I have absolutely no idea why I took the picture with the lid closed.  Ugh.  However, I use it every day and there is no noticeable progress.  I am concentrating on the left side of the product in the hopes to at least hit pan, which was my goal for the project.
7.  Jouer eyeliner in chocolat - This is done.  As you can see, it broke and fell apart.  I have gotten a lot of use out of this since I started focusing on it last fall though.  I feel good about the amount of product I finished before it completely dried out.

Not too much progress to report.  One item is considered finished and I think the primer and hair product will both be done by the next update so that is great!

March Birchbox and February Reviews

We have spring break in about a week and things have been so busy here that I am really looking forward to the beach and some reading.

I received my Birchbox last week and wanted to show you what was in the box this month and review last month's products for you.  March is the first time I have ever chosen the curated box.  It was a good variety of items that I wanted to try out.

The theme for March is Ready for Anything.

Products included in the box were:
Parlor by Jeff Chasten Smoothing blowout spray - $24 for full size
Milk Studios lip color in C.R.E.A.M - $22 for full size
Smashbox Photo Op Eye Shadow Trio in Filter - $28 for full size
Kiehls Ultra Facial Cream - $26.50 for full size
Wilma Schumann Hydrating Collagen Eye Pads - $18 for full size

I was really excited to try out all of these products (hence why I picked the box:).  I've already started to use them and will update you next month with my thoughts.

February Reviews...The theme was What's the Occasion?

Pop Beauty Matte Velvet Lipstix in Cozy Crimson - I have yet to try this red lipstick and I probably won't.  That way I can pass it along to a friend who will wear it.  Full size is $24.

Whish Three Whishes body butter in Lavender - I really liked this body butter.  It applied and absorbed nicely.  I love the lavender scent so that was a bonus.  I'm not a fan of the shave creams by this brand but I did like this body butter and would try it out again.  I'd question buying a full size because I'm not sure it is good enough for the price.  Full size is $24.

Arrow Revive Cooling Cheek Tint in Pink Punch - This is a very pink cheek tint and looks very bright coming out of the tube.  I was a bit concerned at first but I put it on the back of my hand and used my stipple brush by Elf and it sheered out very nicely into a pinky flush on my cheeks.  It will be great for spring and summer, especially minimal makeup days.  Full size is $18.

Sahajan Restorative Eye Cream - Absolutely not!  This stuff smells horrible.  I can't handle the smell or putting it anywhere near my face.  It will be decluttered in my empties one day when I remember to put it in there.  Full size is $45!

Corioliss Argan Conditioning Mask - I did not try this product.  I have a hair mask going in my shower right now and I didn't want 2 open.  I will try this one next and update you at a later time.

Have you been enjoying your Birchboxes?  I know they can be hit or miss some months but I definitely find more good products than bad.  I wasn't really excited about my February box but I ended up liking the products (minus the eye cream).

Finish 5 by Cinco de Mayo Update #1

A few days late with this post but I am happy with the progress I am making on this project.  I started Finish 5 by Cinco de Mayo in the middle of February.  It hasn't been a full month since I started the project but I want to update around the 5th of March and April so I can post my finale at the beginning of May.

I started the project with six products because the foundation is a bonus item.  You can see my intro to the project here.  I'd like to finish 5 of the products but I think I can probably finish all six with how my progress is going.

1.  Foundation - This was a mix of the Neutrogena I had left and Garnier BB cream.  It is too dark for me so I have been mixing it with my It Cosmetics CC cream which is too light and it has been working out well.  I am using it almost every morning and have made good progress.
2.  Stila lip balm in Gabrielle - I use this lipstick every morning and I am trying to reapply at least one other time throughout the day.  I think I'll finish this since I still have two months to go.
3.  Stila lip glaze in Sugar Plum - I am happy with the progress I have made in less than a month.  It might be close trying to finish this:)

4.  Elf blush in Mellow Mauve - I have repressed this already and have very little left.  I am hoping to have this finish by the next update.
5.  Laneige Water Sleeping Mask - I am trying to use this mask once a week but I still have a few uses left.  I am hoping to finish this by the next update also.
6.  Coastal Scents eye shadow - I ended up depotting this from the packaging it was in and putting those shades in a z-palette with some other shadows.  It is hard to tell progress because it is a darker shade but I am using it every day.  This might be another product that will be hard to finish in the next two months, but I will try!

Let me know if you are doing any seasonal challenges!  They are so fun to check out and follow!

Beauty Empties - February

So excited to be posting February empties.  Not only are these my favorite posts and videos, but I am also excited to be continuing to use up products and clear out some of what I have collected.  As always, I will give a little review of each and recap my empty totals at the end of the post.

Bodycare Empties:
Ulta Beauty Smoothie in coconut lime cooler - I use these beauty smoothies to shave in the shower.  I buy them when they are on some type of sale at Ulta.  I have pulled my last bottle out to start using so I will repurchase more beauty smoothies when I am close to running out of my backup.
Dial Bodywash in lavender and twilight jasmine - I bought a bunch of Dial bodywashes awhile ago when they were on sale and I have been trying to use them up ever since.  This scent was okay but I won't repurchase since there are so many other brands and scents I would like to try.
Vaseline intensive care healing serum deep repair lotion - This came in a Target beauty box last fall.  It was great for winter because it was very thick and moisturizing.  I have a lot of lotion to use up but one day I'd consider trying other lotions from this line.

Deluxe sized empties:
Kiehls Super Multi-Corrective Eye-Opening Serum - I ordered a Kiehls moisturizer around the holidays and they were offering a great deal with lots of samples so I was excited to try out lots of their products.  I used this serum at night and I didn't see much of a difference.  I use an eye cream for moisture at night but I don't think I'd need this serum.
Gold Bond Healing Lotion with aloe - I have a ton of these from PinchMe boxes that I received as free samples so I am trying to work through them.  I have been using them as hand lotions at night because the lotion is a bit greasy for daytime use.  I am not in love with this lotion to every purchase it.  It is just okay.
Whish Body Butter in lavender - I really liked this body butter.  I have tried the shave creams from this brand before and I don't like them so I was skeptical.  However, I liked the consistency and scent of the body butter.  Again, I don't need lotion but I would pick this one up someday.
Pantene Smooth and Sleek conditioner - I am trying to use up my small shampoo and conditioner bottles.  I really liked this conditioner, it made my hair feel very soft.  I don't need to buy conditioner - maybe ever:)
Murad Hydro-Dynamic Ultimate Moisture - I used this moisturizer as a night cream since it was much thicker than anything I wear during the day.  Considering the price of Murad products, I was not impressed by this one.

Makeup Empties:
Benefit FakeUp concealer in light - This concealer did a good job of brightening but did not give enough coverage for my dark undereye circles.  It was very moisturizing so it never really felt like it set well.  This is not something I would buy because I need a lot more coverage.
Revlon Super Lustrous lipgloss in super natural - I kept this on my desk at work and reapplied throughout the day.  It was a nice natural color that didn't require a mirror to apply.  However, I also felt like the gloss did not stay around very long and I was having to reapply very often.  I won't repurchase these glosses because I wasn't happy with the staying power.
Smashbox Limitless Long Wear Lipgloss in Forever - This gloss was sticky but I did feel like it stuck around longer because of that.  These glosses are no longer available from Smashbox.
Jouer Eye Definer in gris - This is not empty but I'm not a fan of the shade so I am getting rid of it.  I was always attempting to completely change the color because this looked very blue on me instead of a grey.  I will pass this on or get rid of it.

TheBalm Palette in Nude'tude - This was my Pan That Palette for 2015.  I bought it off Hautelook awhile ago without ever seeing the shades or swatching them.  Don't do that!  There were quite a few shades that I found to be very glittery and I did not like them.  I finished six shades in the palette:  Sassy, Snobby, Stubborn, Stand-offish, Sultry and Seductive.  I have depotted Sexy because I like that shade and will continue to use it.  Part of buying a palette for me is often having some shades, especially on the darker end, that I know I won't get much use out of.  Therefore, I don't have any problem feeling like I got a good amount of use out of this palette and I am very happy with what I did finish.  At this point, I will be counting the palette in my totals of completed products.

Random empties:
Up and Up cotton rounds - One of the brands I like and will continue to repurchase.
Laneige BB cushion - I liked this concept and how the foundation applied.  It had a good amount of coverage for me.  However, the weekend I tried this out, I ended up with a lot of clogged pores and breakouts.  This is the only product I changed in my routine so I will not be purchasing it.
Calvin Klein Euphoria perfume - I was so tired of this scent by the end of it that I have no desire to purchase it.  I have a little sample and I won't be using it for a long time because I got very sick of this scent.  I have perfumes I'll use over and over because I love them.  This wasn't one of those.
Couture Couture by Juicy Couture (not pictured) - I don't remember much about this except it was too sweet for me.

February Update:
Used: 5 full size, 1 palette, 7 deluxe size, 2 samples, 1 decluttered product
I do not count samples packets or cotton rounds in my totals for the year.
Total of $111.76
Year Total:  $249.30

I had $10 from January that rolled over for my budget, added to $25 for February gave me $35 for the month.  I bought the Target Beauty Box for $7 which counted towards my budget, leaving me with $28 to roll into March.

I did purchase a few skincare items that did not count towards my budget because I do not have backups of them (tea tree oil, toner, serum).  The rest of the products I took in for the month were either free samples, Birchbox, or birthday gifts.  I am still not using up more than I am taking in.  I have full size products I am trying to finish up (such as face wash) and then I will be concentrating on some deluxe sized samples to move out items that are taking up quite a bit of space.  I also have items in my seasonal products I hope to finish as well.

Thanks for stopping by!

Finish 6 by Summer Intro

Good evening all!  Since I have finished my Finish 14 by February 14th project, I thought I would do a different seasonal project.  I am doing Finish 5 by Cinco de Mayo (check it out here) but I don't think I picked very difficult products so I thought I would add in another seasonal challenge.  I am going to do Finish 6 by Summer.  I have seen Finish 6 and Finish 7 so I chose 7 products but hope to finish 6 of them.

I started using these products after finishing the other challenge, so around the 15th or so.  The project will end June 20th so after this point, I plan to update on the 20th of each month.

Products in the challenge are:
1.  12 Benefits - this is a spray in treatment to use before blow drying
2.  Malin and Goetz clarifying clay mask and Tarte clay mask - these two small mask samples are counting as one product

3.  Tarte energy lip crayon - I never even touched this in my Finish 14 by February 14th so I hope to use it in this project more frequently.
4.  Benefit porefessional deluxe sample
5.  Smashbox gloss in Limitless - I was able to finish my other Smashbox gloss in a few months with regular use so I hope to finish up this one also.
6.  Jouer eye definer in chocolat - This is a rollover from a project last year.  I hope to finish it in this project because it is drying out a lot.
7.  Jouer cream blush in petal - I hope to just hit pan on this blush

I am marking progress on the eye liner and the lip crayon so you will see those in my next update if there is progress.  The lip products and masks won't get used much until I finish some products in my Finish 5 by Cinco de Mayo but I still think I'll have time to finish them all.

I am not good at finishing products when I do seasonal challenges so I hope this one goes a bit better:)
