April Beauty Empties

I am so happy that spring temperatures finally seem to be arriving and actually staying around!  Looking forward to reading on the patio and playing outside with the mini.  With it being close to the end of April, I have some empties for you.  I will recap my totals at the end of the post as I continue my journey this year to use up my stash.

Hair Products:
Tresemme Breakage Defense Shampoo - I really shouldn't buy this huge size because I get so sick of it!  This was okay.  I don't think it really prevented damage like it claims although it didn't do anything to hurt my hair.  I won't repurchase.
Paul Mitchell Awapuhi Keratin Cream Rinse - This was a sample from somewhere...don't remember but I have another one too that I'm currently using.  It was nice and made my hair soft.  When I looked up the price, I did find that they sell it on drugstore.com and I might consider purchasing after I use up some other hair masks and similar products I have around.
Loreal Total Repair 5 Restoring Shampoo and Conditioner - These came in a Walmart box and I do like them.  I have another set of samples to use up but I would consider buying this to try it out for a longer period of time.

Body and Face Products:
Ahava Mineral Hand Cream - This came in an Ulta sample bag and I love the scent.  I also like the formula and will definitely consider buying this once I finish hand creams I currently have.  I kept this by my bed and put it on before bed.
Caress Body Wash in Adore Forever - This scent was a bit heavy for what I like in a body wash.  More of a cologne type scent where I prefer fruity or fresh scents in the shower to wake me up.  This came in a Walmart box and I have another sample to use up.  I won't buy this because it isn't my favorite scent.
Bath and Body Works shower gel in Pearberry - This was okay.  It was a shower gel which I prefer to the type that are more like a lotion (I feel like they leave a film).  I don't purchase BBW products but will use them when I receive them as gifts.  So, I won't purchase this one for myself.
MyChelle Refining Sugar Cleanser - I loved this stuff!  It was a very light exfoliator and turned almost to a cream cleanser as you massaged it into the skin.  My only concern is that the jar started to dry out as I had it open but hadn't finished using it yet.  I would definitely consider purchasing this depending on how the full size is packaged.  I got this from Birchbox.
Tarte Maracuja Oil - I bought this in a set from Ulta to try and have since learned that I'm not a huge fan of face oils.  I mixed this in which a lighter weight moisturizer during the winter to give me more moisture and to use it up.  I would not repurchase this.
Air Repair Hydrating Eye Cream - I love this eye cream for night time.  I even cut it open and dug out the extra which means I really liked it:)  For me, it is too thick for day but it did a fantastic job of keeping my undereyes hydrated during the cold winter months.  I am wanting to try some anti-aging eye creams or I would definitely repurchase this!
Juice Beauty Blemish Clearing Cleanser - This was another Birchbox sample and I have used Juice Beauty products in the past and liked them.  I might consider buying a full size of this, I'm just not completely sold that it kept my skin clear.

Other Empties:
Sexy Mama Translucent powder (TheBalm) - This was a Hautelook purchase and it is just okay.  I think it oxidized on me some.  I don't think it is worth the price and won't repurchase.
Juice Couture perfume - I got a set of samples from Sephora for my birthday where you get a coupon for a rollerball of one of the scents for free.  I really like this one and it is one of the two I'm considering using my coupon for.  It is a big more floral and sweet than I usually like but I was a fan.
Urban Decay Eye Primer Potion - I have been using this forever!  I cut it open and got a few more months out of it (drove me crazy!).  However, the longer it was in a little tub, the drier it got.  Maybe from being exposed to more air than in the tube?  I won't repurchase this because I have about four more eye primers to use up.  Talk to me in a few years!
Mally Volumizing Mascara - This is my holy grail mascara!  This is the second tub I've owned and I will repurchase unless I find something better (which will be hard to do).  I replace mascara pretty religiously every three months even if it isn't empty because I have sensitive eyes and they get infected easily.  I have a few samples I'm going to try but I will repurchase this at some point.
Maybelline Lash Discovery Mascara - This is my holy grail bottom lash mascara.  Again, replacing because it has been more than three months.  Already using a back up.
Put a Lid on It Eye Primer (TheBalm) - I went to use this after I finished the Urban Decay one and I think it got old so I'm trashing it.  The consistency is very weird to me.  If that is the normal consistency, I wouldn't like using it anyways.
Nazelie Anti Wrinkle Eye Cream - This is also going in the trash because of the consistency.  It has balled up and it all goopy, not like it was when I got it.  It doesn't say how long it should last on the jar so I'm just pitching it.  Don't want to put anything questionable near my eyes.

April Totals:
I started with 304 products
I added 20 products (Birchbox, Walmart Box, samples)
I used up 21 products (7 full size, 9 deluxe samples, 3 foil packets, and 2 trashed items)
I will start May with 303 products.  Down 1 in my overall total:)

I spent $18.99 this month on a Lash Discovery mascara and Pixi concealer at Target.

I have used up a total of 82 products so far this year.  $556.84 in product has been used and an additional $141.01 has gone in the trash (this is why I need to not hoard products).  My budget is at -29.43 for 2015 and my $1 for each empty journey.  Even with my one purchase at Target, I'm still edging towards the positive in my budget.  My goal is to not be in the negative for long and definitely not at the end of the year.

I'm feeling pretty good about how this journey is going.  I am doing well overall with resisting the urge to spend on products I don't really need.  Sample bags and gifts with purchase are so hard to pass up, but I'm doing okay.  I love seeing the progress, especially on products I've been using a long time and are finally nearing empty.

April Birchbox

The Birchbox this month was so pretty!  This is also the first time I have ever taken advantage of Birchbox plus.  Birchbox offers products each month you can add on for an additional charge.  The products vary from jewelry to home goods to lifestyle products.  This month, one of the choices was a tumbler and notebooks from Rifle Paper Co. who also designed the box.  They were so pretty and I always drink my water out of tumbler, even at home (I find it helps me drink more water).

The tumbler and notebooks are the products outside the box.  Aren't they pretty?  The box was a gorgeous design this month too, similar to the tumbler.

The products: (I tried all but the shave cream but I'll explain why)

1.  Beaver Professional Hydro Nutritive Moisturizing Shampoo - I enjoy trying new shampoo and conditioners because I haven't found one yet that I absolutely love and think is perfect for my hair. I do like this but I think it might be a bit heavy for my hair.  Not an absolute love to repurchase.
2.  Beaver Professional Hydro Nutritive Repairing Conditioner - I did like this one as well but, again, not a need to repurchase.
3.  Jouer Tint - This is a cream product for lips and cheeks.  I received a nice peachy pink color, exactly what I would wear.  I used this product as a cream blush under my powder blush and I really like it.  I'm looking forward to wearing it alone during the summer when I want a touch of color.  I was very excited to try this out because I have seen Youtube videos where people love it.  All of the Jouer products I have tried have been great and this is no different. I would consider purchasing when I use up some of my cream products.
4.  Wei Manuka Bee Venom Mask - No!  This does says to avoid if you have bee allergies.  While I do not have bee allergies, I did seem to have some sort of irritation after using this product.  My cheeks were red and felt warm and inflamed to the touch.  I found this mask very hard to wash off and I ended up wiping it off with a cloth then rinsing because I couldn't get it all off with the water (super weird).  Also, this is one use in a pod and you get 8 pods for $60!  I have found much better masks for way cheaper!
5.  Whish Save Crave Shaving Cream - This is the only product I didn't try because I have used it before, just in a different scent.  I will use this when my current shave cream runs out soon so I set it to the side for now.  I get about 2 uses out of this tube which is kind of a bummer.  This is not a product I feel the need to purchase as there are so many cheaper drugstore alternatives (this is $20).  I also feel like I need to use a lot of the product to shave which makes me feel like it is a waste.

I have been very pleased with my boxes lately.  While the products aren't always a purchase for me, not too many have been horrible and I've definitely been able to get use out of them.  I have been using the clarifying shampoo from last month so I'll review that when it shows up in an empties.

April Project Pan Updates

Happy weekend everyone!  This is a few days late because life has been busy and our internet has been spotty.  But I wanted to get in my update on the various projects I have going for Project Use It Up 2015.

We will start with my rolling project pan.  Here is my list of products I am trying to work through.  I keep this list taped to the inside of my medicine cabinet as a reminder.  It isn't that I don't like these products, but I have had them for awhile and am getting tired of using them.  So, I want to finish them up rather than putting them to the side and having them sit around for even longer.

At my March update, I had finished #17, the hair mask.  For this update, I have also finished #8 which is the Tarte Maracuja Oil.  This was not a full size but more of  deluxe size that I got in a kit from Ulta with a blush and lip pencil.  I am really close on a few items like the Suave lotion, eye cream, and concealer so I will have quite a few products crossed off at my May update.  I can't wait!

I am not going to show you progress on every one of the items because that would make for an even longer blog post than you normally get from me:)  However, I wanted to show my NYX blush because I have been working on it forever and may be finally getting to the end.  It is hard to tell from this angle because you see pan, but I am marking the lid with progress.  The very tiny empty circle in the middle of the lid was my progress when I start in February.  The large filled in circle is where I am now.  And the middle is very, very thin.  So maybe by the end of summer this one will be gone?!

I am also panning the NudeTude palette from TheBalm.  The picture on the left was my March update.  The picture on the right is my April update.  I have a lot more pan on the three shades from March and have also hit pan on an additional shade.  These are the four shades I am using in my daily look.  I also smudge sexy along my lower lash line but the dip isn't too noticeable in pictures yet.

Finally is my update for Finish 4 by July 4th or Pan4X4 on Instagram.  I did mark foundation progress.  The first mark is up at the top by the word gorgeous and it was from the end of March.  My most current mark is close to the middle of the tube.  I'm not entirely sure my first mark was accurate because I didn't use that much of this foundation in three weeks.  But I am not able to see empty tube so I now I am making progress even my markings aren't entirely accurate.

I didn't touch the bare minerals cream shadow yet so no progress there.  I use the concealer every day but marking progress is impossible.  I just know that with daily use, I am using it up.  The bottom line on the left is where my color tattoo is at now, compared to the top line last month.  Again, progress and I am going to be so excited to have this finished!

That is where I am at now!  I will get my Birchbox review up soon and it is almost time for April empties too!

I recently guest posted about some splurge and save items over at Pray Love Blog for Tricia so go check that out here.
